Good morning everyone, we hope you had a lovely weekend and managed to enjoy the sun! This month would be intercultural May, so we are inviting parents to complete a project on the country of their choosing throughout May (See message below for more details!) As you all know, May is a very special month in Powerstown ETNS where we celebrate the amazing diversity and similarities of our wonderful school community. Usually each class selects a country to study for the month across as many subjects as possible, then they complete a project and prepare a short performance connected to that country. At the end of the month we usually have a special day where we all dress in the colours or traditional clothing from our own personal country and we have a parade, we display our projects in the hall and parents are invited to a performance. It's one of our favourite days of the year. However, this year due to school closure we are going to put a little spin on things! We are inviting families to complete a project on the country of their choice together. This project can take any form you wish. It can be written information, Music, Art, Dance, Story, Traditions, Crafts anything that you have a passion for. If possible, take some time to sing a song, tell a story or create something that you might have learnt about when you were a child. Projects can be in any language that you wish. Videos, recordings, pictures can be posted to our google classroom and shared with Gary or Patrick and we would love to share everyone’s work on our school website at the end of May to celebrate all of our wonderful idea If you let us know what country you are studying we can check to see if we have any resources (videos, images, powerpoints, worksheets, flags etc) that we can send on to you. {Over the years of doing Intercultural May the school has been collecting resources for future classes to use, we don't have lots and sadly not for every country yet so if you find some good resources for country of choice we'd love for you to send them on!} Here are some videos from previous years to remind and inspire you! We are on hand to help out as best we can during the month and will be making topic suggestions each week as a guide. Tree bark rubbingsNow that the weather has been nice enough to spend some time outdoors, it's nice to have a few activities that we can do in parks or gardens. Ildi has made a lovely video about making bark rubbings. Thanks Ildi! Zoom this weekLooking forward to seeing some of you at the zoom sessions this week!
